1884 Intern, Grantmaking Resource Center/Monitoring & Evaluation Office / Summer 2019 (SU19)

The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is a congressionally funded, private, nonprofit grant making organization that works to support freedom around the world, and is seeking an Intern for the Grantmaking Resource Center (GRC) and Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Office.  The position is based in Washington, D.C.

 

Position Summary:

Working with two small teams, the unpaid intern will play a role in supporting the institutionalization of learning and best practices in grantmaking through the design and production of modern digital content and learning resources, as well as providing support to the Monitoring & Evaluation unit’s analysis of grant performance. The internship is a unique opportunity to learn more about an emerging field in the management and evaluation of democracy-related grantmaking. The internship is open to current graduate or undergraduate students.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Review grant performance macro-data, help develop analysis, assist in creating related visualizations.
  • Contribute to the documentation of internal practices in grants management.
  • Edit videos into microlearning resources for internal audiences.
  • Support the coordination of learning opportunities for grantmaking staff, as necessary.

 

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be a registered student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate-level program; able to receive college credit or transcript notation of participation in our program for each semester of the internship.  An independent study option, if approved by your university is also possible.
  • Applicants should have an interest in instructional systems design (ISD), learning and development, content analysis, monitoring and evaluation, international relations, and/or democracy work.
  • Qualified candidates should have excellent writing skills and analytical skills, maintain a strong work ethic, be capable of showing initiative, be well-organized, and thrive as an independent worker and learner.
  • Applicants with a background in video editing and experience with Final Cut or Adobe Premiere video editing software, NVIVO and Excel preferred.

 

Time Commitment:                             24-40 hrs. /week (not to exceed 40 hours per week) for the duration of the internship

 

Travel Reimbursement:                      $12/day for commuter expenses
